WHY FEAR OF DEATH IS AN ILLUSION
A Unified View from The Song of God, The Urantia Book, and The Infinite Way
Introduction — The Root of Terror
Fear of death does not come from death itself.
It comes from a single question:
“Will I still be me?”
The mind imagines two extremes:
- Total nothingness
- Or survival without identity
Both create terror.
But when we examine the deeper teachings of
The Song of God,
The Urantia Book,
and The Infinite Way,
we discover something profound:
Death is not the end of you.
It is the transition of what you already are.
Part I — The Illusion of “Nothingness”
The human mind fears “nothing after death.”
But this fear contains a hidden contradiction:
- You are imagining nothingness
- While still being aware
This means:
You are not actually imagining non-existence
You are imagining empty existence
True non-existence cannot be experienced, seen, or feared.
So the terror is not real—it is a mental projection.
Part II — The Song of God: The Epiphenomenon of the Soul
In The Song of God, consciousness is not produced by the brain.
Instead, the brain is an instrument.
The teaching of the epiphenomenon of the soul implies:
- The soul already exists independently
- The personality is an expression of the soul, not a temporary illusion
- Awareness continues after physical death
This leads to a powerful realization:
You are not inside your body.
Your body is inside your expression.
Death, then, is not annihilation.
It is:
The release of awareness from a temporary form
Part III — The Urantia Book: The Thought Adjuster and Soul Fusion
The Urantia perspective adds structure to this process.
It teaches:
- A fragment of God (the “Thought Adjuster”) lives within you
- Your soul is being built during life
- After death, the soul and divine presence continue
The key insight:
Your identity is not discarded—it is preserved and expanded
In this model:
- Memory may not function exactly the same
- But personality, essence, and identity survive and grow
Part IV — The Infinite Way: Consciousness Never Begins or Ends
Joel Goldsmith takes an even more direct approach:
- Consciousness is the only reality
- The body is a temporary appearance within it
This means:
You were never born as consciousness
and you do not die as consciousness
Death is like:
- Waking from a dream
- Not disappearing
Part V — The Fear of Reincarnation
Many fear reincarnation more than death:
“What if I come back and don’t remember anything?”
But consider this:
- You do not remember being an infant
- Yet that infant is still you
So what continues?
- Not surface memory
- But identity at a deeper level
This means:
You are not erased—you are re-expressed
Part VI — The Unified Truth
When these teachings are brought together:
- The Song of God → Consciousness exists beyond the brain
- The Urantia Book → Identity evolves and survives
- The Infinite Way → Consciousness is eternal
They all point to one truth:
You are not something that can stop existing
Final Realization — The Fear Dissolves
Fear of death is not about death.
It is about:
- loss of control
- fear of the unknown
- attachment to current identity
But the deeper truth is this:
You have never experienced non-existence
And you never will
Because:
You are the awareness in which all experiences appear
Closing Line (Blog Style)
Death is not the end of the self.
It is the unveiling of what the self has always been.
