INTRODUCTION — THE FIRST VEIL

Every spiritual path begins with a misunderstanding so deeply rooted that it appears to be truth:

The belief that we are separate from God.

This belief is not taught in a single moment—it is absorbed over a lifetime.

We learn to say:

• “This is me”

• “That is the world”

• “God is somewhere else”

Yet the great teachings, including
The Song of God,
The Urantia Book,
and
Initiation in the Aeon of the Child,

all point to a single revelation:

Separation is not reality—it is perception.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SELF

The “self” most people identify with is not the true self.

It is constructed from:

• Memory

• Conditioning

• Fear

• Social identity

From childhood, the mind builds a structure:

A name, a history, a personality—
and calls it “I”.

But this “I” is unstable.

It changes:

• Over time

• With emotion

• With circumstance

If the self can change, then it cannot be the ultimate truth of what you are.

THE ROLE OF THE MIND

The mind’s function is division.

It separates:

• Subject from object

• Self from other

• Human from Divine

This is useful for survival—but it creates illusion.

The mind says:

“You are here. God is there.”

But this is not a statement of truth.
It is a tool of perception mistaken for reality.

THE FIRST CRACK IN THE ILLUSION

At some point, a question arises:

“What if I am not who I think I am?”

This question is the beginning of awakening.

It may come through:

• Suffering

• Curiosity

• Spiritual study

• Or inner intuition

Once this question appears, the illusion begins to weaken.

THE THREE TEACHINGS SPEAK

Each of the great systems describes this stage in its own way:

From The Song of God

Reality is not made of separate beings—
but of a unified field of consciousness.

The individual self is not the source—
it is an expression.

From The Urantia Book

Man is more than material existence.

Within him lives a divine fragment—the Thought Adjuster—
guiding him toward higher awareness.

---

From Initiation in the Aeon of the Child

The self we believe ourselves to be is not the True Self.

It is a construct that must eventually be transcended.

---

THE EXPERIENCE OF SEPARATION

Why does separation feel so real?

Because it is reinforced constantly through:

• Sensory perception

• Emotional reactions

• Fear of loss and death

The body feels separate.
The mind interprets separation.
And the ego defends it.

Yet none of these prove separation is real—
only that it is experienced.

THE BEGINNING OF THE PATH

The path does not begin with becoming something new.

It begins with seeing clearly.

Ask yourself:

• Who is aware of my thoughts?

• Who is observing my emotions?

• What is present before identity forms?

This awareness is not separate.

It is not divided.

It is the same awareness through which all existence is known.

THE FIRST REALIZATION

The first realization is not:

“I am God.”

The first realization is simpler:

“I may not be separate.”

This opens the door.

CONCLUSION — THE VEIL IS THIN

Separation is the first illusion—and the most convincing.

But once questioned, it begins to dissolve.

And in that dissolution, a deeper truth begins to emerge:

The self is not isolated.
It is part of something infinite.

This is the beginning of the Divine Ascent.
